Phuket's Kata Beach is a cozy, secluded beach with calm waters - a favorite spot for families and couples to relax, play beach volleyball, snorkel, and bodysurf.

Arguably the most beautiful beach in Phuket, Kata Beach is a 1.5-kilometer-long paradise just waiting to be discovered and loved. White sand, clear sea, tropical trees, and endless entertainment are just a few of the things that make Kata Beach so special.

A mile of perfect sand and crystal-clear sea, the southern part of the beach is the perfect spot to enjoy a Thai massage in the shade, while the northern part offers a variety of exciting activities, including kayaking and scuba diving – however you choose to spend your time, you'll be amazed by the beauty of this incredible beach.

When to go

There's no bad time to visit Kata Beach, and although Phuket has a tropical monsoon climate, it avoids the typhoons and tropical storms that batter nearby countries.

The best time to visit Phuket is from December to May, when the island experiences intense heat, reaching its highest temperatures in late May and April. Locals prefer June, July, and August, as the hot days are usually tempered by short showers, but you can still enjoy long sunny days.

Even during the rainiest season from September to October, you can expect long sunny days on the beach between short showers, and plenty of low-season activities are still available to enjoy.

Where to eat

The food on Kata Beach simply leaves nothing to be desired. You'll be spoiled for choice, and your only worry will be running out of time to try all the incredible restaurants lining the beach.

From the Horn Grill steakhouse, whose menu offers everything from steak to swordfish, to Kampong Kata Hill, where you can sample arguably the best Southeast Asia has to offer. Right on the beach, you'll also find one of the most celebrated restaurants in all of Thailand: The Boathouse Phuket, offering a luxurious restaurant atmosphere serving the most delicious dishes, along with award-winning wines and cocktails, in an undeniably stylish setting.

Whatever your preferences in terms of taste, decor, ambience or service, Kata Beach has a restaurant for everyone.
